TESTOSTERONE TREATMENT AND 17-KETOSTEROID EXCRETION

Abstract
Doses of testosterone propionate (TP) were given by intramuscular, oral, and rectal routes to 8 healthy human subjects of both sexes. Utilization, when applied as suppositories per rectum, was about 60% of that obtained by intramuscular injections of oily solutions of TP. Suppositories of testosterone gave results similar to those for TP, but suppositories of testosterone [beta]-cylopentylpropionate were almost without effect.
