ELECTRON MICROSCOPY OF HUMAN PULMONARY EMPHYSEMA

Abstract
Electron-microscope observations on pulmonary emphysema in humans has been described. The findings were similar to those in rabbit emphysema in that there were 3 changes involving pulmonary capillaries: loss or damage to the endothelium; partial or complete filling of the capillary lumina with collagen; recanalization of some of the damaged capillaries.
