Abstract
The following reduced transition probabilities for tungsten isotopes have been determined in Coulomb-excitation experiments by the study of inelastically scattered particles: for , respectively, and and for . The ratios of the transition matrix elements derived from these quantities are compared, for the even isotopes, with the corresponding ratios of quadrupole moments determined in Mössbauer experiments. These ratios are equal within (2.2±2.2)%, and therefore agree with the prediction of the rotational model. Microscopic calculations by Kumar and Baranger predict somewhat larger differences among the ratios than those determined in the present work.
