K+pElastic Scattering in the Backward Direction at 2.76 BeV/c

Abstract

The differential cross section for backward ($cos{\theta }^{*}<~-0.84\mathrm{}$) $K^{+}p$ elastic scattering has been measured at 2.76 BeV/c. No evidence is seen for the $Z_1\mathrm{}\left(2505\right)\mathrm{}$or for a dip in $\frac{d\sigma }{\mathrm{du}}$ at 180°. A good fit with an exponential in $cos{\theta }^{*}$ is obtained, yielding a slope 13.0 ± 2.4 and an intercept $\frac{d\sigma }{\mathrm{du}}\left(180\mathrm{}°\right)=87\mathrm{}\pm 16$ μb/sr.
