Abstract
The author considers the normal distribution of Na, K, and Cl, and their variation with adrenal insufficiency, cortisone and ACTH, desoxycorticosterone, dehydration, disturbances in carbohydrate metabolism, neuromuscular disorders, renal disease, shock, surgical procedures, fever, and other abnormal conditions; also the changes in the cardiovascular system resulting from changes in these ions. He mentions briefly some of the applications of isotopic methods to problems of electrolyte metabolism in man.
