Abstract
The rate of uptake of hormone A by 6 strains of Achlya was determined. Hormone A was taken up more rapidly by A. conspicua E15, A. americana E22, and A. ambisexualis 9 and 10. A. ambisexualis 734 took up little or none of the added hormone. The thalli that always produce antheridia during conjugation with other thalli (strains E15, E22, E87) take up hormone A rapidly. The thalli that produce oogonia while conjugating (strains 9, 10, 734) take up hormone A slowly or not at all. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
