The Spin and Magnetic Moment of Ti47 and Ti49 and the Magnetic Moment of Ge73

Abstract

The spin and magnetic moment of ${\mathrm{Ti}}^{47}$ and ${\mathrm{Ti}}^{49}$ have been measured by nuclear induction. The results are: $I\left({\mathrm{Ti}}^{47}\right)=\frac{5}{2}$, $I\left({\mathrm{Ti}}^{49}\right)=\frac{7}{2}$, $\mu \left({\mathrm{Ti}}^{47}\right)=-(0.78706\mathrm{}\pm 0.0001)$ nm, $\mu \left({\mathrm{Ti}}^{49}\right)=-(1.1022\mathrm{}\pm 0.0002)$ nm. The magnetic moment of ${\mathrm{Ge}}^{73}$ has been measured by nuclear induction with the result: $\mu \left({\mathrm{Ge}}^{73}\right)=-(0.87675\mathrm{}\pm 0.00012)$ nm. These results are compared to the predictions of the shell model of nuclear structure.
