Abstract
An analysis has been made of the position of Stark components of excited states of the trivalent neodymium ion in the aluminum garnet and gallium garnet host lattices. The crystal‐field calculations reveal that not all crystal‐field parameters for these states are equal. It has been found that for some states this change cannot be attributed to intermediate coupling effects or J mixing. Keywords
