Abstract
The quantitation of antiinflammatory activity of human fibrinolysin (plasmin) has been studied in rats with the method by Aschheim and Zweifach. The use of their procedure with radioiodinated human serum albumin confirmed findings, earlier reported by Copley and Tsuluca, obtained with the semiquantitative blueing method. Human profibrinolysin (0.2 mg plasminogen Merck, Sharp and Dohme) acted as a phlogogen similar to histamine (2 [mu]g) in enhancing capillary permeability. In both cases 400 units of human fibrinolysin (Ortho Research Foundation) neutralized the above response bringing it down to control levels. This antiinflammatory effect of plasmin versus plasminogen could thus be established. Keywords
