Abstract
A Pseudomonas isolated from soil, capable of growing on a medium containing methanol as the only carbon source, is described. Biotin or one of a few closely related compounds is required in very low concentrations as a growth factor. It is shown that the ability to use methanol is an adaptive system and that the biotin is incorporated in the cell, but is recoverable on acid hydrolysis. Keywords
