Abstract
Material consisting of 227 histologically verified transthoracic fine needle aspiration biopsies is presented. The result of the 1st biopsy attempt gave a diagnostic sensitivity with regard to malignancy of 77% and a diagnostic specificity of 98%. The method is recommended in cases where conventional preoperative diagnostic procedures fail to reveal the nature of human lung lesions. Keywords
