Abstract
It is shown that Mytilus edulis is capable of retaining particles at least as small as 2 µ with great efficiency. This probably means that particles smaller than 5 µ play an important role in the nutrition of the mussel, as particles of this size are an important fraction of the total organic particulate matter. Keywords
