The Pure Rotation Spectra of NH3and ND3

Abstract

The pure rotation spectra of N${\mathrm{H}}_3$ and N${\mathrm{D}}_3$ have been measured in the spectral region from $40\mu$ to $170\mu$. Ten rotation lines of N${\mathrm{H}}_3$ corresponding to final $J$ values from 3 to 12 have been observed. These fall upon a curve given by $\nu =19.880J-0.00176\mathrm{}{J}^3$. Thirteen lines of N${\mathrm{D}}_3$ corresponding to final $J$'s from 8 to 20 have been observed. These fall upon a curve given by $\nu =10.26J-0.00045\mathrm{}{J}^3$.
