Further Studies on Incubation of Turtle (Malaclemys centrata Lat.) Eggs

Abstract
In this study of the absorption of mineral salts by the developing egg, the egg including the shell was considered as a unit. There was a slight but not significant increase in the ash of 33-day and 60-day incubated eggs. Mineral salts from the environment are not necessary for normal development and hatching since eggs receiving only distilled water during incubation developed normally and produced young turtles comparable in ash content to those hatched under natural conditions.
