This paper describes the functions of a system used for interfacing a digital computer directly to a number of laboratory gas chromatographs. Hardware requirements for such a system are outlined and design alternatives discussed. Required computer program functions are presented and data flow through the computer and its interface is discussed. A discussion of peak area calculation methods is given. The last section summarizes the benefits of on-line monitoring of chromatographs with a digital computer.
