Abstract
The pepsin concentration and output in the gastric secretion were measured in nine men with duodenal ulcer, after stimulation with tetragastrin, 20 μg/kg, and histamine acid phosphate, 40 μg/kg. After histamine the pepsin secretion was higher than after tetragastrin. The ‘optimal’ dose of tetragastrin —which will cause the greatest output of pepsin—is not known. The construction of a dose-response curve for tetragastrin/pepsin may solve this problem. Keywords
