Determination of Order Parameters in Liquid Crystal by Resonance Raman Method; 5CB as Probed by β-Carotene

Abstract
By using polarized resonance Raman effect for all-trans β-carotene dissolved in 5CB as an orientational probe, the temperature dependence of the second and fourth order parameters have been accurately determined. The results have been compared with those of previous work on neat 5CB. The critical behavior of order parameters has been investigated.
