Four heat shock proteins of Drosophila melanogaster coded within a 12-kilobase region in chromosome subdivision 67B.

Abstract
Unique coding sequences for 4 heat shock proteins of D. melanogaster, hsp 28, hsp 16, hsp 23 and hsp 22, are clustered in a 12 kbase interval at chromosome subdivision 67B. The 4 genes are not transcribed in the same direction and each gives rise to a separate mRNA, with no indication of intervening sequences. The genes for all 7 major heat shock proteins of D. melanogaster have now been cloned; they exhibit a variety of patterns of organization at the 5 loci they occupy.
