Abstract
When dry seeds of several crops were placed in aqueous solutions of "Avadex", at high concentrations, germination was inhibited. Growth at lower doses was proportional to the dose although after germinating most plants died. The cytological behavior in meristematic regions was similarly correlated. At high doses mitosis was blocked; at lower doses it proceeded temporarily though frequently in an abnormal manner. Polyploid cells were induced in wheat and barley. Contrary to expected results, no chromosome breakage was observed.
