Preparation and Characterization of High-Performance Pt-Ru/WO[sub 3]-C Anode Catalysts for the Oxidation of Impure Hydrogen

Abstract
The use of reduction instead of thermal decomposition of catalyst precursor salts after freeze‐drying resulted in significant improvement of the anodic oxidation of impure . The electrode performance was at in containing , and over in containing . Catalysts prepared by thermal decomposition of freeze‐dried precursor salts had little activity for in a stream containing . The use of stripping and electron microscopic examination showed that a higher surface area and greater number of interfaces are responsible for the improved performance. ©2000 The Electrochemical Society
