INHIBITION OF THE SPONTANEOUS UTERINE MOTILITY IN VITRO AS A BIOASSAY OF RELAXIN

Abstract
A method for the bioassay of relaxin is reported that is based upon the inhibition of the spontaneous motility in vitro of the isolated rat uterus. The response to relaxin is scored visually. The variations in response between segments from the same animal''s uterus are significantly less than the variations between segments from different animals. The log dose-response curve shows linear regression. The method appears to be too laborious for practical use.
