Abstract
A new family of composite coatings utilises electroless plating processes to codeposit various non-metallic particles in metal matrices. The resulting composites demonstrate excellent resistance to wear, corrosion and abrasion. Comparative wear and frictional data for the various coatings are presented both against themselves and against other materials. Several types of abrasion test information are included along with hardness and corrosion test results. Field experience has been documented in several industries and results are presented in actual service applications. The results of this activity are shown to demonstrate some of the practical uses for composites.
