Abstract
Second order correlation techniques can be used to obtain a complete characterization of femtosecond pulses, in amplitude and phase. The importance of monitoring and controlling the frequency content of ultrashort pulses is discussed. Application of correlation techniques — in particular to three dimensional diagnostics — are reviewed. It is shown that depth scanning alone is sufficient to generate three dimensional images by up-conversion range gatingKeywords
