LACTOFLAVIN (RIBOFLAVIN) INCREASES HEMOGLOBIN PRODUCTION IN THE ANEMIC DOG

Abstract
Lactoflavin (natural or synthetic) in daily doses of 1.7 to 10.0 mgm. (0.1 to 0.5 mgm. per kgm. of body wt.) causes a definite increase in Hb production above the basal level in standardized anemic dogs. This increase is of the order of 1/4 the Hb production effected by daily feeding of 300 gms. of pig liver. These expts. contribute to a better understanding of the physiological function of lactoflavin.
