Behaviour of Copper in Trophoblast and in Placenta at Term

Abstract
The contents of Cu in trophoblast and in placenta at term have been determined. Eden and Hamilton''s method was applied. The investigated material involved 52 cases. The average amount of Cu in fresh tissue of trophoblast is 194 [mu]g%. The Cu content of placenta at term is 227 [mu]g%. By converting the Cu contents to dry tissue (larger amount of water in trophoblast) the levels of Cu in trophoblast and in placenta at term are nearly the same. The total content of Cu in placenta at term is approximately 1.3 mg.
