Plasma Volume and Renal Circulatory Function in Cirrhosis

Abstract

Plasma volume was high in cirrhotic patients with impaired renal hemodynamic function or ascites and did not differ significantly from that in cirrhotic patients without these complications. The findings should direct attention toward causes other than reduction of plasma volume to explain renal circulatory failure in patients with hepatic disease.
