Muon Capture in Neon

Abstract

By exploiting the transfer process $\left({\mu }^{-}p\right)+\mathrm{Ne}\to p+\left({\mu }^{-}\mathrm{Ne}\right)$, we have measured the disappearance rate of negative muons bound to neon nuclei. We find $\lambda =(0.658\mathrm{}\pm 0.010)\times {10}^6$ ${\sec }^{-1\mathrm{}}$.
