Abstract
Measurements of some physical properties of liquid and gaseous CH4 and CD4 are reported. The data were obtained at temperatures ranging from the freezing point up to 10° above the critical temperature and at pressures up to 70 atm. The measured quantities include vapor pressures, liquid molar volumes, liquid isothermal compressibilities, critical constants, and gas‐phase molar volumes and compressibilities in the critical region. These results are compared with those of other workers and with some theoretical predictions of fluid behavior in the critical region. Keywords
