Abstract
Interstitial atoms and vacancies play an important role in the theory of solids and of radiation damage. It is difficult to separate and measure unambiguously these lattice disturbances in metals. It is suggested that measurements of changes in elastic constants may be appropriate in such investigations. Keywords
