Taught 12 white Carneaux pigeons a conditional discrimination involving combinations of 2 intensities of white noise with 2 luminances of white light. Whether or not the light components predicted reinforcement depended upon the value of the sound component, and vice versa. Generalization curves obtained after training can be accounted for by statistical decision theory and a concept of attention. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights reserved)
