Abstract
Known facts of the distribution of species of cladocerans are considered in general terms, and the attempt is made to correlate these data with the results of experiments to determine the upper limits of temp. consistent with life for the several sp. Sp. predominantly southern in distribution or widespread but having summer maxima become inactive at low temp. and have highest lethal temp. Northern forms and widely distributed sp. with spring and fall maxima remain active at lower temp., those with spring and fall maxima have intermediate lethal temp., while northern sp. have lowest lethal temp.
