Abstract
Groups of extravert, ambivert and introvert eight‐year old children saw a sequence of pictures with a tape‐recorded commentary about each. Half of every group received each picture before its associated commentary while the other half listened to the commentary before seeing the picture. Performance on an immediate recall test showed a significant #opP#lt0#lb05#cp interaction between extraversion and presentation order. Extra‐verts recalled most when the commentary preceded the picture to which it referred, ambiverts performed similarly in both conditions and introverts did best when the picture was presented before its commentary. Keywords
