Abstract
The loss of reproductive capacity of Chinese hamster cells has been studied using 60Co γ-rays and DT neutrons to provide different fractions of the total dose. Survival data were obtained for aerobic and hypoxic cells and r.b.e. and o.e.r. values determined at the 10 per cent survival level. The r.b.e. with respect to 60Co γ-rays was found to vary linearly with the γ-ray percentage of the total dose, whereas the o.e.r. variation was more complex. The implications of these results are discussed with reference to neutron radiotherapy. Keywords
