Abstract
The authors describe the physical basis and experimental techniques of inelastic electron tunnelling spectroscopy. A discussion of the essential features of quantitative theory shows how to set about detailed analysis of spectra. The power and versatility of the technique are illustrated by accounts of a variety of applications, and suggestions are made about the directions in which the field will develop.Keywords
