Abstract
In this minireview, the earlier researches that led to the discovery of the period-four oscillations of the flash-induced oxygen formation are presented. It also includes the background of the classical model proposed by Bessel Kok, in which the formation of oxygen requires the sequential accumulation of four positive charges on the donor side of the same reaction center. Keywords
