Abstract
Discussion and summary The data presented indicate that Toluca-3 virus has properties characteristic of the enteroviruses but that it is antigenically distinct from all previously described serotypes. Despite the absence of generally accepted definitions of the polioviruses, Coxsackie viruses, and ECHO viruses (4) this agent has been designated tentatively as the prototype strain of ECHO type 33 by the Panel for Picornaviruses of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Keywords
