Adjuvants for a Tumor-Specific Vaccine: Bordetella pertussis or Mycobacterial Cell Walls Attached to Oil Droplets

Abstract
Tumor cells alone or in combination with killed Bordetella pertussis did not induce tumor rejection immunity. A mixture of living BCG and tumor cells induced strong tumor immunity, but immunity did not develop when B. pertussis was incorporated in the BCG-tumor cell vaccine. A nonviable preparation of BCG cell walls on oil droplets was as effective as living BCG.
