Abstract
The remanent magnetization of rock formations ranging in age from Permo-Carboniferous to Cretaceous from the Venezuelan and Colombian Cordillera is shown to have been acquired in part after folding. Nevertheless the direction of primary remanence can sometimes be inferred. The Permo-Carboniferous Pipiral formation from the Llanos region of Colombia was not so severely remagnetized and appears to be of the same magnetic age as the Pennsylvanian Taiguati formation from Bolivia.
