CONTROL OF INDUCIBILITY OF ENZYMES OF THE GALACTOSE SEQUENCE IN ESCHERICHIA COLI

Abstract
Several kinaseless mutants derived from an inducible galactose-positive Escherichia coli were shown to be constitutive with respect to the remaining functional aspects of the galactose sequence. Mutations which lead to loss of transferase or epimerase activity have no effect on inducibility of galactose enzymes.
