The Influence of Sucralfate or Cimetidine on Gastric Juice pH, Bacterial Flora and Mutagenicity

Abstract
Sucralfate, given in a dose of 1 g, orally, 4 times a day, had no effect on gastric juice pH, bacterial flora or mutagenicity in patients with gastric or duodenal ulcer. This was in marked contrast to the effect of a single 400-mg dose of cimetidine on gastric juice pH, bacterial flora and mutagenicity.
