Abstract
We improve Anderson, Tsao, and Curnutte's theory of pressure broadening by taking the thermal average of the molecular velocities. Widths of rotational lines of the OCS and of inversion lines of the ammonia are calculated with the original and with the improved theory. The improvement of the theory turns out to be quite important in both cases. This publication has 7 references indexed in Scilit:
