The structural and metamorphic state of the Dalradian rocks and their bearing on the age of emplacement of the basic sheet

Abstract

A third generation cleavage in the Macduff Slates is shown to post-date the Insch basic intrusion. The effects of the third generation movements on the basic sheet are discussed. Evidence based on the distribution of metamorphic porphyroblasts and textures shows that the basic sheet was intruded during the main metamorphic crystallisation of the area.
