Abstract
The author confirmed the observation of Meldrum and Dixon (1930) that denatured globin does not yield a nitroprusside reaction for free -SH or -S-S- groups. He did not confirm the statement by Anson and Mirsky (1931) that denatured globin contains normal amounts of both -SH and -S-S- groups. Globin prepared by the acetone method gave a faint purplish tint. This color differed from the normal given by -SH and did not appear when the conditions were such as to prevent reaction between nitroprusside and acetone. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
