Abstract
One hundred and eighty-one anaerobic bacteria recovered from infections were tested by agar dilution technique against 10 antimicrobial agents. The MIC read after 24 h of incubation shows that metronidazole, chloramphenicol and clindamycin appear to be the more frequently effective drugs against B. fragilis. Among the cephalosporins tested, cefoxitin was the most active against anaerobic bacteria followed by cefamandole and cefazolin. The results compared to other studies indicated a decreased activity of penicillin G, carbenicillin, cefoxitin and tetracycline. Keywords
