Lifetimes of IBr(B3π+) by laser-excited time-resolved fluorescence

Abstract
Fluorescence lifetimes for the v′=2,3, and 4 levels of the B3π+0 state of IBr have been measured by means of laser‐excited time‐resolved fluorescence. A technique is described which reduces the presence of Br2 and I2 to an acceptable level, allowing an unambiguous determination of the IBr lifetime. The observed lifetime for the three vibrational levels studied is essentially the same, 0.54±0.05 μs.
