Abstract
Purified carboxylase preparations all exhibit carboligatic activity. The yield of acetoin from pyruvic acid increases with acetaldehyde concentration, but falls with increasing pyruvic acid concentration. It is concluded that acetoin is formed by reaction of 2 molecules of acetaldehyde-carboxylase complex, and that the postulation of a carboligase is unwarranted. Preparation of purified carboxylase from yeast is described. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
