Reinstatement of Verbal Behavior in Elderly Mental Patients Using Operant Procedures

Abstract

In the present research verbal communication deficits were viewed as consequences of existing behavior-environment relationships within the institutional setting. Operant procedures were successfully used in two studies to reinstate the verbal behavior of nonverbal or minimally verbal elderly mental patients.
