Abstract
The nature and characteristics of cation exchange resins and their utility in medical biology are summarized. Clinical effects of their ingestion for purposes of exchanging electrolytes in passage through the intestine are discussed. External balances of Cl-, Na+ , K[image] and N and alterations in serum HCO3, Cl, Na+ and K+ after admn. of single resins and resin mixtures are presented graphically, and the efficiency of various resin forms are compared. The clinical advantages and potential hazards of the injudicious admn. of resin are discussed,.Keywords
