Abstract
After the prolonged admn. of methyl[long dash]or propylthiouracil to hamsters, intrafollicular buds appear in thyroid follicles. The buds develop central follicles which enlarge until they almost fill the primary follicle. The process may repeat within the secondary follicle. Sometimes the secondary follicles rupture as a result (?) of distension with colloid. Localization of alkaline phosphatase in the peripheral portions of secondary follicle cells suggests that secretion may may be occurring in both primary and secondary follicle simultaneously.
