MONOSOMIC ANALYSIS OF FATUOIDS IN CULTIVATED OAT AVENA SATIVA

Abstract
Genes controlling the regular synapsis of homologous chromosomes and the suppression of fatuoid characters in the cultivated oat Avena sativa have been located on the same chromosome. Studies of the morphology and meiotic behaviour of the mono-telocentric plant have shown that the gene controlling regular synapsis is located on the short arm and the fatuoid suppressor on the long arm of a sub-median chromosome.
